Supreme Court upholds wage board for journalists
Dismisses contention of newspaper organisations that wrong procedure was adopted by the board, orders implementation of wage hikes in retrospective from Nov 11, 2011. Newspaper organisations claim it will bleed them.

Hurdles for Jan Lokpal
Solicitor General has said the bill by Delhi government will be unconstitutional without approval of Lt. Governor and will be contradictory to the Lokpal and Lokayukta Act, passed last year by the Parliament. But Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal says nothing unconstitutional in the new bill.

Tourists coming from 180 countries can now apply online and receive the green light within five days, before getting their visa on arrival at the an airport. This may help boost tourism.

Sikkim is the first 'toilet state' of India
According to State's Drinking Water and Sanitation Ministry, Sikkim has 100 per cent sanitation coverage now with 98,043 household latrines, of which 61,493 latrines have been built for poor families. As many as 1,772 schools have been covered under the total sanitation programme. 

Delhi traffic police can only challan autorickshaws now
Complaints of misbehaviour, refusal or overcharging will not lead to suspension of permits except when the permit, drivers' licence or fitness certificate is missing. Replacement of old autos, 500 more stands and an annual fare hike dependent on inflation were some of the decisons announced. 

Cabinet for Telangana
The Union Cabinet approves the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill which will now go to the Parliament after Andhra Pradesh Assembly rejected the legislation which calls for formation of a separate Telangana state. Earlier, the Supreme Court allowed Centre to introduce the bill in Parliament.

Nude picture not always obscene
The Supreme Court has ruled that a picture of nude or semi-nude woman can be obscene only if it has the tendency to arouse the feeling or revealing an overt sexual desire. The bench gave this order on the petitions filed against publication of a picture featuring tennis player Boris Becker in nude with his black fiancee as a message against colour discrimination.
 
High Courts can hear pleas against NGT orders
Madras High Court says cites Supreme Court order allowing appeals against Armed Forces Tribunal, which is comparatively more stringent authority than the National Green Tribual. 
 
Himachal offers tax sops to hydel projects
The state budget announces exemption from entry tax for plants and machinery, reduction in VAT and NOC exemption for small projects from Irrigation and Public Health, PWD, Revenue and fisheries departments.
 
Christians can file divorce after one year
Karnataka High Court upholds Kerala High Court's verdict which had brought down the 'two years' separation period mentioned in the Divorce Act, 1869, to one year in conformity with the Hindu Marriage Act, the Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act and the Special Marriage Act.
