Chairperson of Burning Brain Society, Chandigarh, Goswami has been active in the field of tobacco control and right to information movement. His social campaigns led to Chandigarh being declared the first smoke-free city of India. The success of this initiative paved way for other places in India to become smoke-free. He has also filed various public interest litigations on several social issues including illegal land acquisition, right to education and public health
